One thing that I've seen be a detriment to busines One thing that I've seen be a detriment to businesses is when people jump in too fast, without first taking the time to set up all their systems, processes and strategy.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And one thing that I always say is (quoting the tortoise, which by the way, I had one as a child!): "Slow and steady wins the race".
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What do you think?
🍷 15 years ago, while in grad school, I worked 🍷 15 years ago, while in grad school, I worked two harvests for a winery in Sonoma County. At the time, their bottles started at $60 (their prices have since gone up).⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So what makes a bottle of wine worth that much? And what's the correlation to your business?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here's a few reasons a bottle can be either cheap or pricey:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I was told that "river-side" (as in, next to a river) grapes had a lesser value. 🍇⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So grapes whose terroir was like the one in this photo were more valued. (but geez, those hills were hard to climb! Sometimes, I'd just scooch down the hill on my behind! 😂).⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The type of oak, and amount of time that the wine was aged, are another two reasons that determine the price of a bottle.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Plus we must include other costs like equipment and labor.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And finally... To quote Wine Spectator: "...expensive wines are expensive because they can be."⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So circling back to your business...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨ The experience you have⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨ Your years in business⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨ Your trainings and education⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨ The quality of your services or products⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨ Your mission / values for your business⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
All of the above (and so much more!) needs to be taken into consideration when you put a price on your products and services.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Need help figuring it out? I have two spots available for my 1/2 day strategy sessions this month and one spot open for my 3-month mentoring option.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

This last year has been so challenging, for so man This last year has been so challenging, for so many of us. Especially for small businesses.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And really, in times of distress and unease, we have two choices.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We can choose to get beaten down and throw in the towel.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Or we can choose to see the challenges we face as opportunities.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🌱 To learn from them.
🌱 To grow from them.
🌱 To step up and out of our comfort zone and try something new.
🌱 To do something different.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What are you struggling with? What challenges are you facing in your business?

Pop over to my Solopreneur Survey (link in bio) and let me know. From the responses that you - my beautiful, inspiring community - share, I'll be creating content (blogs, emails and social media) to support you in your path as a solopreneur. ❤️
Dear community, some friends have set up a gofundm Dear community, some friends have set up a gofundme and I thought I'd share with you here what happened to me last year, as it may help you, or someone you love.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
(note: it is super hard to ask for help, but what I ask of you, is that if there is something in my online shop that could support you - either my business or personal development courses / products, or my books on Amazon/iTunes - please check them out - link in bio. It would be a HUGE help 🙏)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My biggest symptoms were weight gain and bloating - and Dr. Google told me that I had perimenopause, which made sense.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
At about that same time I told my parents that I had been sexually assaulted when I was younger. I share this with you because there has been research that correlates sexual violence and fibroid tumors - which is what I had, it grew rapidly and it was the largest my surgeon had ever seen. Decades later, researchers are finding that trauma from the assault can cause many women to develop fibroids.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I avoided the doctor until I couldn’t. It was in the middle of the pandemic and I was still thinking it was just my body changing. The problem with fibroids is they shrink at different times of the month - so I wasn’t in a constant state of “bloating”.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I eventually did get a diagnosis and I was told surgery was required - that the fibroid, if it burst, could be life threatening.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In Dec, I had a complete hysterectomy. All pre-surgery tests were normal. The ovaries were biopsied and it turned out I also had endometriosis - which would explain why I couldn’t conceive.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A week later I was in emergency and hospitalized for two weeks with...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤒 Temps between 95.6 and 104 degrees⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤒 Severe sepsis⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤒 Severe anemia⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤒 A collapsed lung ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤒 Extreme body pain - likely from sepsis⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤒 Kidney infection⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
