To Sell or Not To Sell?
Do you have something to sell but you’re not sure if it’s an appropriate time? Are you afraid of being seen as opportunistic? ?
I’ve received messages from people who were upset because they assumed my super affordable training was just a gateway to make them buy some $1,000 program [it’s not, there’s nothing else to buy from me!].⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I understand why people are suspicious – there are a lot of opportunistic companies out there right now and it’s difficult to know who to trust.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
AND I admit… it’s a weird feeling to try to market and sell my online marketing training right now. [even though I know, now more than ever, it’s desperately needed as everyone tries to figure out how to work from home and take their business online… it still feels weird!]⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Are you feeling that way too — unsure how to present yourself in an authentic way so that you’re seen as serving your community, and not taking advantage? Unsure if you should really be sharing your offerings, services and products right now?
Here’s my short answer…
Just the fact that you’re asking yourself those questions means you have the compassion and consideration for others — and based on that… YES, you should be showing up and offering your services.
You should see this time as an opportunity to SERVE. To be there for others.
Because you are likely offering something that the world needs right now. And that may mean selling something to help them.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I want to add here — even if you can’t SELL right now, you could still be SHOWING UP for the people in your community.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And they will remember that… when everything returns to normal [or some new version of normal], they will remember the businesses who were there for them…⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Who reached out with kind words. Who made them feel seen and heard. Who supported them in these strange times.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So take that step ? Show up, serve and if it feels right, sell what you are offering, because likely, your community [and the world] needs you right now.
