Choosing your business name

Something that really makes me frustrated in the online world:

BAD WEBSITES

In my 11 years of working in the online world, I have seen A LOT of them.

Here’s what I’d like you to imagine:

You walk into a Pottery Barn (or your favorite home décor store) and all of the throw pillows are strewn about the floor, the bedroom area has kitchen gadgets in it, bath products are in the outdoor furniture section… you get the picture.

Not such a great shopping experience, right?

Your website is your virtual storefront. It should be clean, clear of clutter and easy to understand what you want me to do and where you want me to go.

It’s often times the first impression that someone will have of you. And you know what they say about first impressions… you don’t get a second chance.

I’ve actually had potential clients visit my website and immediately hire me. Without even getting on the phone.

Not that my website is anything special – but it made a direct connection with them, so much so that they immediately felt like they knew, liked and trusted me enough to want to work with me.

On the flipside, I’ve visited websites of businesses I wanted to purchase from but their website was so poorly built, or I couldn’t figure out what I was supposed to do, that I just bounced off and found someone else to buy from.

The user experience is KEY when you’re creating (or updating) your website.

So today I want to ask you to go check out your website.

Below I’m sharing with you 9 things to review on your website to ensure it’s up-to-date and showing the best version of your business to the world.

Here are a few questions to consider:

  • Is the design outdated?
  • Does it look good on all devices? Computer, tablet, phone?
  • Are the pictures old and outdated?
  • Does the copy (text) make sense? Is there too little? Too much? Is it formatted well? No spelling mistakes?
  • Do you still offer all the services listed?
  • Do you offer new services that need to be added?
  • Do you have new press / media to add?
  • Do all the links work? Internal and external?
  • Is the pricing correct? Do you need to add your prices?

And if you need help (because sometimes, it’s difficult to see things from an outsiders perspective — we can all use a second set of eyes!), I’m here for you.

One of my favorite things to do is website audits. And since we’re all still having to manage a worldwide pandemic, I want to offer you the audit for 50% off.

Because as I say again and again –

I want you to succeed in the online world.

I want you to make an impact.

And if I can help you in some way to do just that, I would feel so honored.
