Know Like Trust
This is Part 1 in a series to help you build your business . . . with confidence, authenticity, intention and a whole lot more ease.
One of the foundations of business? The KNOW LIKE TRUST factor.
We need all three to be successful in our businesses and connect with our communities.
So the first one is, KNOW. We need to be known, right?
People need to be able to find us. They need to know who we are as business owners and what we offer. If people don’t know who you are, they can’t possibly connect with you or buy from you!
There’s lots of different ways people can find us — they can do a Google search. If you’ve been blogging regularly, maybe they’ll pop up on one of your blogs and read it. If it helps them, they might connect with you by joining your email community or they’ll find you on social media, and follow you there.
Another way is they find you through using hashtags on Instagram. Maybe you do a post that really connects with them and they start following you there. Maybe they click on the link in your bio to learn more about you.
You can also get referred by other people — which is actually a bonus — because when you get referred by someone, then they often times have an underlying TRUST factor already included.
Then there is the LIKE factor.
Not everyone is going to like us.
That’s just the simple truth.
We all have different personalities and different ways of doing things. I see myself as a pretty likable person but that doesn’t mean that everyone’s going to connect with me and my way of working and showing up in the world. I’m a pretty casual, laid-back kind of person. But I’m also VERY motivated and have a “show up and do the work” kind of attitude.
And since I have a pretty easygoing demeanor, I’m not going to get in your face and be boisterous and you won’t probably ever hear me swear.
Not that there’s anything wrong with any of that. Lots of people connect to that type of personality. That’s just not me.
Your community is going to connect with you because you’re being authentic in your marketing and how you’re choosing to show up in the online world.
Which leads me to the TRUST factor.
You have to be able to gain your community’s trust — they have to know that:
- You know what you’re talking about and
- You’re going to deliver on what it is that you are offering.
So how you can build your KNOW LIKE TRUST factor?
It’s simple, but it does take time — you show up consistently, you let your followers, your community, know who you are and what you do and what you offer.
You give them insights into your world, and that way they get to know you, they get to like you and they get to trust you.
As you’re developing your social media strategy, be sure to think about how you can integrate KNOW, LIKE AND TRUST authentically and intentionally into the strategy that you’re building for your business.⠀⠀⠀
